Spring Training Report 1/25
The Gators continued their practice on Saturday, with the Orange team barely scraping a 3-2 win over the Blue team.
The Blue team got off to a quick 2-0 lead in the scrimmage, with catcher Luke Heyman blasting a 2-run home run in the 1st inning. Last season, Heyman slashed .246/.342/.481 for the Gators. He hit the run off Aidan King, a freshman who pitched at a 1.06 ERA in his Senior season. King was ranked the #13 right handed pitcher in Florida in the 2024 graduating class, and also hit while he was in high school, batting .300.

The Orange fought back though, eventually bringing the score back to 2-2. Pushing it as late as they could in a shortened scrimmage, the Orange finally took a 3-2 lead at the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, the Blue team managed to load the bases. On two outs, bases loaded, and a full count, the Blue struck out to end the game.
Overall it was a solid day of practice for the Gators, showing good pitching and defensive performances from both sides.
